Building a Group Expense Management App

Overview Managing shared finances shouldn't be a source of stress. My Splitly was born out of the need for a faster, more transparent way to track group spending. This case study explores the development of our flagship product a mobile first solution designed to handle complex bill splitting with ease.

The Challenge Most people struggle with "who owes what" after a trip or a dinner. Traditional methods like spreadsheets are manual and slow, while many existing apps are cluttered with ads or complex interfaces. Our goal was to create a "zero-friction" environment where adding an expense takes seconds and settling up is a single-tap process.

The Solution: MYSplitly is a cross-platform ecosystem (Web and Android) that acts as a digital ledger for social groups. Whether it's a long-term roommate situation or a one-off weekend trip, My Splitly ensures everyone stays on the same page.

Key Technical Highlights:

• Group & Non-Group Flexibility: Unlike rigid trackers, My Splitly allows users to log quick 1-on-1 debts or create large multi-user groups.

  Instant Notifications: We implemented a robust notification system to alert users immediately when an expense is added, edited or deleted, ensuring complete transparency.

  Simplified Settlements One of the core strengths of My Splitly is the "Easy Settlement" engine. Instead of multiple confusing back-and-forth payments, the app automatically calculates the most efficient way to balance the books. It minimizes the total number of transactions required to settle a group’s debt, making the closing of a trip or a month of bills effortless.
